European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) is fast approaching with a land date for May 2018, and businesses need to be prepared, and the Brexit decision changes nothing. As we become an outside country to the European Union, we still need to adhere to the storing of personal data within the EU and data regarding EU citizens. GDPR imposes large fines on any business that breaches the conditions of GDPR – 4% of annual global turnover or €20 million, whichever is greater. Fines of this scale could very easily lead to business insolvency and, in some cases, closure. Data breaches are commonplace and increase in scale and severity every day.  Therefore the ability to remain protected is paramount, therefore now is the time to address the requirements of GDPR.
